Disney Nail Art Series - The Jungle Book Shere Khan Inspired Nails

Hello there lovely readers!

As you may know about me now, I love challenging myself when it comes to nail art so I really enjoy partaking in various nail art challenges on Instagram as there are usually lots of interesting themes & prompts to get the creative juices flowing.

I'll be attempting a few manis for the Clairestelle8April challenge so most of the designs you'll see this month will be for that! One of the prompts is "Childrens Books" & the first book that came to mind for me was Rudyard Kiplings The Jungle Book...not only one of my favourite books but a wonderful Disney film too of course! SO I guess I'm killing two birds with one stone here & have another addition to my Disney Nail Art Series!

NOTD - Easy Holo Zebra Tutorial!

Hello there lovely readers!

Whenever I'm stuck for ideas or inspiration with nail art, I find you simply can't go wrong with rocking a bit of animal print! Be it spotty leopard or stripy like a tiger/zebra, both are equally easy to do & the finished look slays.

It just so happened I found myself in the mood for some stripes, but rather than just go for a simple two tone striped look, I decided to twist it up a tad by doing a holo base with slightly angled stripes!

Of course you can rock a black & white zebra or an orange & black tiger look but its always fun to play around with different colours I'm sure you'll agree!

As mentioned for this mani I wanted some holograhic action so for my base colour I've applied two coats of Color Club Cherubic from their amazeballs Halo Hues collection which is a fabulous & unusual beige toned holo.

Then I added my black stripes first using the striper brush from my black WAH nail art pen, which is perfecto for this type of nail art. Rather than apply the stripes straight across horizontally, draw on the stripes angled downwards slightly, about three on each side, to give an edgier effect.

Next apply your white stripes, this time using a nail art pen in White, again I used good old WAH. Draw on the stripes in the same way, placing them directly next to the black, either under or above the black as shown.

For a final little optional step I stuck on a triangle gold stud at the centre bottom under the cuticle giving the mani a touch of punk-ness which I love!

Finish with your obligatory topcoat to seal & that is it! An eye catching yet easy design in seconds.

Hope you liked dolls, let me know if you give it a try, thanks for reading!

Lotsa love to ya!

Easter NOTD - White Wabbits Tutorial!

Hey there lovely readers!

So I'm sure it won't have escaped your notice that Easter upon us, if the abundance of fluffy bunnys & cheeky chicks everywhere weren't a big enough giveaway then the lure of a four day weekend definitely catches attention!

Naturally I can't help getting in to the spirit of things by indulging in my favourite thing...nail art! As well as chocolate egg over eating...a skill I take most seriously. So I guess make that SECOND favourite thing ;)

Last year I created these pink Easter Bunny Booty nails which still make me giggle everytime I think of them. As cute as they were to wear they were also of course hugely impractical, but for the wee time they were worn the wabbits were dearly loved.

This time I decided to create some slightly better behaved bunnies, who instead of showing us their behinds, give us their best selfies smiles instead! :)

Easter time always makes me want to reach for pretty pastels & I had the perfect polishes to use  courtesy of Ulta3 who (along with many other brands I'm sure you remember!) released some speckled polishes a while back for the season each with delightfully bunny themed titles!

On my thumb & middle fingers I used one coat of Blue Bunny a bright blue pastel creme with teeny black glitters as well as a few larger hexagonal ones.

On my index & ring fingers I went for the pink offering using one coat of Bunny Bloom, a pretty strawberry pink creme with the same black glitters. On my pinkie I decided to go all white using Models Own White Light HyperGel which is what I also used for my rabbits.

Now to draw our bunnies! Here is a wee step by step breakdown on how to create your own wee wabbits...

Begin with one or two coats of your base colour, with these Ulta3 polishes I felt one was more than enough, especially as I'd be adding more polish for my bunnies

Start by drawing a round(ish) circle at the tips of your nails for the bunnies head using the brush that comes with the polish.

Then grabbing a finer nail art brush, dip into your white polish & draw on two ears above the head, if you want to make them floppy you can but I didn't have enough space. Fill in your two long triangular ears with more white

Then using some black polish & a dotting tool apply two dots next to each other for the eyes.

Next using a bright pink polish, here I've used WAH nail art pen in Pink & used the fine nib to apply a teeny nose & to fill in the inside of the ears with a smaller triangle.

Final step is to add those whiskers by simply adding three small strokes either side of the nose with black polish

For my pinkie white bunny I simply used the black & pink polishes to draw on a rabbit face a little differently, more comic book, rustic arty style? That's what I'm telling myself with anyway...

Not forgetting a nice covering of glossy topcoat & your cute bunnies are ready to hop :) I have some googly eyes lying around that I'm itching to use & I've just had an idea for what they might be perfect for so stay tuned for more Easter nail art...

Losta love to ya!

NOTD - Safari Theme Animal Print Nails!

Hello there lovely readers!

Hope you've all been well & enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Work was getting seriously hectic of late so my buddy Saf & I escaped to the coast for a few days of sun, sea & relaxation which was most welcome & needed. A couple of days spent soaking up the rays & enjoying good food definitely helped revive me again! :)

If you follow moi on social media you may know that for the past 3 weeks I've been rocking a Gelish mani on the nails. QUITE a feat for yours truly. I honestly didn't think I would last 3 days but I adored it SO much that I got as much wear as I could out of it. However the time came to eventually remove the gel & finally get back to polishing these nails! Huzzah! Girl was seriously starting to get withdrawal symptoms! O_o

So for my first polish fix in 3 weeks I've decided to go a bit “wild” with some funky Safari themed nail art incorporating both Zebra AND Leopard print designs as I couldn't decide which one to go for haha!

For my base I've used two coats of Nina Ultra Pro Rum & Reggae. Lets just take a moment to appreciate the fabularse name of this polish, I love it! Rum & Reggae is a cream beige nude, perfect as a base colour to do nail art on as it really brings out the design whilst still being a lovely neutral shade.

I then applied a sort of rough (okay VERY rough) zebra like design to one half the nail using a thin nail art brush & black polish. I personally feel the err rustic...“roughness” sort of adds to the wild wilderness theme going on here...okay I MAY have rushed it a tad O_o

On the remaining half of the nail I applied a few gold glitter splodges before adding the leopard detail by free-handing small C like curves around the gold with a toothpick to create the leopard spots.

I let the polish air dry a few minutes before going in with a coat of CND Air Dry topcoat, this is important otherwise the nail art may drag if top coat is applied straight away. And that's it! Hope you like the “wild” Safari design nails my lovelies! Roar!

Thanks for reading!

Lotsa love to ya!

NOTD - Paint It Purple Nails for International Womens Day!

Hello lovely readers & Happy International Women's Day too all you fabulous beauties! *epic fist pump jump in the air*

My wee contribution to the cause shall be in the way I know best, by painting it purple on the nails! Why purple I hear you ask? Well here's a little fact of the day for you...Back in 1908, the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in Great Britain adopted the colour scheme of purple, white and green to symbolise the plight of the Suffragettes. Purple symbolised justice and dignity - two values strongly associated with women's equality. So here's my #PaintItPurple mani!
