NOTD - Voodoo Child

Hey there lovely readers!

Jumping from the sweet Spring vibes of the previous post right into some gothic goodness...that's how I roll ;) 

Its true that as much as I love my dark side muchly, the inner Disney pastel princess still manages to seep through often & I love both worlds ;) My last nail art look was suitably sweet so today we have some dark Voodoo action...

My inner witch is content :) I've wanted to do a fun witchy Voodoo symbol style nail art look for some time & I'm chuffed with how these came out!

This look was the perfect opportunity to use one of the Primark Limited Edition Dusk collection polishes I picked up a while back. Did I buy these purely for the badass (& obviously Louboutin inspired) bottle? Maybe. But they also happened to be gorgeously gothic duochromes so WIN WIN in my book. 

I applied two coats of the Primark shade Cosmic, a beautiful dark purple flakie duochrome to my pointer, ring & pinkie fingers. Wanting a bit of contrast to the design I decided to paint the remaining nails in A England A Midsummer Nights Dream, a truly beautiful pale pink lavender holo, a bit of light to the darkness as its all about balance right?

I then googled some Voodoo symbols that I could attempt to freehand & picking a few different ones I used a fine nail art brush & some silver polish for the dark nails & black polish for the light nails.

For that extra touch of magic I added a pretty rhinestone to the middle finger before finishing with topcoat. Nails ready to cast some spells! Thanks as always for reading lovelies! Till next time!

Easter NOTD - GoT Dragon Eggs ft Prism Polish Viserion

Hey there lovely readers,

So countdown is in motion for the final season of Game of Thrones...who else is excited?! I'm sure it comes as no surprise that yours truly is a fan. I am in equal parts over the moon excited for the new season but also devastated that it will all be coming to an end soon! How will we cope?! 

In honour of the occasion & also because Easter just happens to be around the corner, I thought it apt to recreate some Dragon Eggs nails using a very special polish!

Halloween Dripping Blood Scream Nails!

Hey there lovely readers!

Holy moly its been a minute! I had hoped to get in the spirit of Halloween with my nail art but time it would seem has run away with me! I've just returned from a much needed & most amazing break in New York City, my most favourite place on earth! With that, work & also the fact that I had me some beautiful gel nails did whilst out there means any new nail art looks will be put on hold for a month or so...thankfully I have a backlog of looks & also managed to throw together one spooky look before I left so woohoo!

I always like to do some form of dripping blood nails every year so keeping in with tradition that's what I've done but this time with a spooky twist!

A England "A Symphony In Green and Gold" and "Peaseblossom A Fairy" Polishes

Today I wanted to share two beautiful new additions to my polish collection from one of my all time favourite brands...A-England

A-England is an indie polish creation by the lovely Adina & the collections within her range seek inspiration from English history & myths...thus appealing to my aesthetic completely. Not only are the polishes themselves stunning with faultless formulas but the stories behind the collections are equally intriguing & magical. Collections such as "Tudoresque", which is dedicated to King Henry VIII & his 6 wives. "The Legend", which touches on the story of St George & the dragon and "To Emily Bronte", a collection inspired by the gothic novel Wuthering Heights...these are just a few of the magical collections...can you see why I am besotted?

Halloween NOTD - Holo Cobwebs!

Hello lovely readers!

So the time hath come to start getting spooky on the nails my dears! My goth side is so satisfied this time of year but then with me its all 365 days not just October with its main event of Halloween, I'm dark souled pretty much all year round ;) But tis now especially my oddness can come out in full force haha!

So for my first Halloween mani I've decided to go for some creepy cobwebs which I've glammed up with silver holo because life is always brighter when there's holo dolls. Halloween doesn't always have to be dark & spooky, though I totally dig that too 

Please excuse the quality of the pics beauts, I've never been over the moon with my photo skills in the first place but I've recently moved & struggling to find which areas have the best lighting, so far the kitchen is winning... O_O Not to mention that the winter months means early darkness which, as you know my fellow bloggers out there, is our worst nightmare!

Anyhoo I digressed there with that mini rant, apologies. For my base polish I've used the glorious A England shade Encore Margot. I ADORE the lovely Adina's brand of polishes with their beautifully gothic & medieval collections, I URGE you to check them out.

Encore Margot is a dreamy blue toned silver holo which I've applied two coats of on most of the nail, leaving a wee angled part by the cuticle end bare...not sure why, just felt the mood for a bit of random negative spaceage.

Once dry I then grabbed my nail art brushes including my new Nailbees brush which is so fine & perfect for details! The lovely Minnie also sent me a Freddo chocolate with my order along with a cute little note, such a sweetie!

Using some black polish I proceeded to add on my cobwebs. To create the design begin by drawing two diagonal lines to create a cross on to the nail before adding a horizontal line down the middle so that you have the 6 triangle sections of your cobweb

Then using the Nailbees brush & more black polish just add on the final details of two small curved lines in between your triangles & hey presto you have your cobwebs!

I couldn't stop there so for some extra glam factor I applied one clear & two black rhinestones on to the negative space as well as a couple of dots of China Glaze Lorelai's Tiara which is one of my favourite sparkly glitters with its silver & ice blue tones.

I also added on a final dot of glitter on to the centre of my cobwebs before coating it all with obligatory topcoat to seal.

NOTD - Egyptian Jewel Inspired Nails!

I've always been fascinated with Egyptian history. I adore watching films depicting the time of the Pharaohs & I hope to visit Egypt one day, being a huge Poirot fan also, a Nile cruise has been on the bucket list for a long time!

From a beauty addicts perspective, the Egyptian era is truly a feast for the eyes...the stunning hairpieces, the bold makeup, the eye catching jewels! Its the jewels in particular that inspired this particular mani I have for you today, using tones of black, turquoise & gold I came up with these Egyptian inspired jewelled stone nails.

To recreate these could not be easier. Start with applying a black base. Here I've used two coats of A England Lancelot, one of my favourite blacks, it has a divine Gothic red tint to it & a beautiful glossy formula.

Next apply your turquoise centre. To do this I used a fine nail art brush & Models Own Turquoise Gloss. Free hand a teardrop/diamond style shape in the centre of your nail, before filling in. Don't worry if they don't match, I actually think having each nail look slightly different is better!

You know I am a glitter FIEND so sparkle was definitely required. To bring out that turquoise I applied some of this gorgeous Jordana glitter in Celestial on top of the Models Own.

Then using a fine nail art brush & some gold polish or a gold nail art pen which I've done here & naturally forgot to photograph because...well...I'm a plonker, apply a gold border around the turquoise.

Finally grab that glitter again, this time some sparkly gold, I love my trusty Color Club & simply go over your gold border with the glitter using another fine brush.

Finish with a coat of topcoat & jazz up the hands with some hand jewellery if you like & your Egyptian inspired manicure is done!

This mani is actually from my archive from a few months back but I'm in mourning for how long my nails are here! Lately they've been breaking left, right & centre & its slowly driving me mad! *throws self down dramatically & wails in despair*

NOTD - Elizabethan Rose ft True Brit London & A England

Hello there my lovely readers,

If you're familiar with my blog you may remember my recently discovered love of the brand True Brit London & their beautiful range of polishes. Not only do they possess a diverse range of pretty shades, all based around adorably typical British themes, the formula of these polishes is great with a high end quality feel but without the price tag. And don't get me started on the glorious packaging. Pretty polish bottles always gain major brownie points! I've already blogged a few of their polishes which you can look back on HERE. Today I have another stunner, this time sees the turn of the beautiful *Elizabethan Rose...

Isn't it simply swoon worthy? Elizabethan Rose is a stunningly vibrant cherry red/fuchsia pink glass fleck shade which gets its sparkly shimmer from the addition of finely blended rouge pearl swirled in to the formula. The colour is so uplifting, instilling all the happy vibes in me, I just adore it!

This here is two coats applied which glided on to the nail smoothly & dried fairly quickly too. I wanted to incorporate a bit of nail art in to the mani & what better than some free hand roses to go with theme of the polish.

I went for an accent nail using a black base, here I've used two coats of A England Lancelot. I absolutely adore Adina's beautiful polishes, her collections are like artwork, each based around a gloriously gothic historical theme. Lancelot is actually a red tinted black, fabulously opaque & glossy. Another brand I urge you to check out.

I used Lancelot again to create a mini rose petal design on the left side of the nail using a fine dotting tool to create the petals. I love floral nail art but really want to practice my rose technique as it definitely needs working on so plan to do more of this design for sure!

Then for my accent nail I grabbed Elizabethan Rose & my Ongle nail artbrush which I purchased from Born Pretty Store (use my code TRUW10 for 10% off) & again free-handed two large roses, positioning one near the tips & the other near the cuticles. 

To create a rose design begin with a dot of polish in the centre, then gradually add little curved swirls around it, forming your petals until your happy with the size.

To finish I just applied a pretty pink rhinestone to the centre of one of the roses before sealing it all with topcoat.
