NOTD - Lemon & Lilac!

Hey there lovely readers!

I don't know if its the time of year but I am kinda obsessed with all things lemon right now. The shade that is! I picked up the most dreamy yellow dress from Zara the other week that also functions as an immediate mood lifter, it helps that its super swishy for obligatory impulsive twirling of course. I'm currently on the hunt for a lemon print dress, I've seen a few floating around on the socials that have peeked my interest...I NEED!

NOTD - Wicked Inspired Nails Tutorial!

Hey there my lovely readers!

If you caught my last post where I reviewed the Mitty Burns Peel Off Tape Barriers for easy nail art clean up, you'll remember how we left things...with a neon gradient nail base of yellow & green that was begging for some nail art action...

Well I had me some plans for this base & in particular with this colour combo especially. I recently went on a little London adventure with my dearest chum which saw us popping by the Apollo Theatre to finally watch the award winning show Wicked which (no pun intended) we absolutely loved. Honestly we must've been the last humans on earth NOT to have seen it & I'm glad to finally tick it off my list.

Mitty Flawless Finish Peel Off Mani Tape Review

Hi there lovely readers!

When it comes to doing nail art, no one likes a lot of mess. And yup there are a number of techniques that can cause just that, thus putting many people off doing them. Sad times. However nail art has come a long way & now there are lots of ways to make the whole process so much easier with minimal stress & easy cleanup! Happy times!

I'm sure you've heard of the method of using liquid latex as a skin barrier when doing messy nail art such as sponging, stamping, water marbling etc. If not then go have a peek at my post touching on that HERE.

Using liquid latex really has been a game changer for sure, waving goodbye to the days of having to wrap cellotape around your cuticles, praise the gods!

One little product that caught my eye were these peel off mani tape barriers from Mitty Burns that basically work in the same way except, not only are they latex free which is fab news for those who have skin allergies but also no fiddly bottle or brushes required, or waiting around for the barrier to dry, you simply peel the tape from the sheet, wrap it around the skin, then peel off in one go after you've done you nail art! Nifty!

My favourites this year so far have to be my Flamingo Nails, they just make me smile so much & I'm itching to do them again. But of course Mother Nature will play a big part in allowing this to happen & whenever she doth bestow upon me decent lighting & time for photos I will make sure to take advantage!

Halloween NOTD - Bat Tips!

Hello lovely readers!

Halloween nail design number two for you today witches! A little spooky twist on a French mani, instead of white tips...Black Bat Tips! With a bit of psychedelic neon action too...why not?

For my base colour I've used Angelica Hip Hop, a gorgeously vibrant neon orange/pink jelly which I picked up from Primarni yonks ago. Not entirely sure they still stock as I've not seen them since Primark expanded their own cosmetics range? But you can still find them online

I wanted my bats to stand out but you can of course use any base colour you like, yellow would've been awesome actually to achieve a cool Batman vibe to the look...but of course me being me I only realised this after...*face palm* O_O

After applying two lovely coats of Hip Hop I waited a few minutes for it to dry before grabbing my Nailbees nail art brush, my new favourite brush to use & free handed my bats using a dark purple Rimmel polish Deliciously Dark...definitely apt for Halloween.

I drew these from scratch using an image I had in my head but there's a few different quick hacks/techniques you can use to create bats, its honestly not as hard as it may seem!

One way is to apply a thick black curved line along the tip just like you would for a normal French mani, then grabbing your base colour, apply 4 semicircles along the edge on top of the black to give the appearance of the bottom of the bat wings. then just add two pointed triangles in the centre of your curve for the head & hey presto!

Finish it all with obligatory topcoat & your bat nails are good to go! I've just finished my next Halloween mani for you guys & I think this is my favourite so far, can't wait to share with you! Until then witches you can find all the Halloween mani inspo from my previous designs HERE!

Lotsa love to ya!

NOTD - Wimbledon Nails!

Hey there lovely readers!

Unless you've been hibernating the past week, you'll be aware that we are currently in Wimbledon season here in the UK. ALL THE STRAWBERRIES!!...oh & erm tennis. Now I'll put my hands up & say that I'm not the sportiest person on the planet...now if napping was a sport...heck I'd be a gold medalist guaranteed. However one can't help but get in to the spirit of it all & y'all know by now my favourite way of doing so! A friend of mine requested a mani suitable for this tennis event so here we go!

Tennis balls! :) I did think about incorporating a few strawberries in to the mani but didn't want to over do it haha! Especially with all the vibrant neon action, not to mention the fur effect accent nail experimentation I decided to go for...

For my base I used two coats of Models Own Flip Flop from the Polish For Tans collection. At first I was unsure of this vibrant neon green shade, however on application it was simply perfect for my tennis balls! I'd forgotten just HOW beautifully bright it was...I was tempted to dig out the shades! :)

On top of Flip Flop I applied a coat of Funky by Claire's. Pretty perfect name for this fun green tinted topper with small & large hexagonal glitters suspended in the formula. I love using this over greens to add extra dimension.

Then using the striper brush end of my Models Own nail art pen in White, I simply freehanded the two circular curved lines to finish the tennis ball design!

The accent nail was a little experiment & I'm pretty happy with how it came out! I wanted to create a real tennis ball effect & whilst browsing through Poundland found a random double ended polish witch had polish on one end & the green fur effects on the other.

I only picked it up for the fur effects, the polish was pretty rubbish so into the bin that went! Instead I used the Models Own Flip Flop. Placing a couple of french mani guides to create the negative space curves, I applied a thick coat over the nail, before covering with the fur whilst the polish was still wet, patting down to make sure it stuck well!

Once I was happy with the amount of fur on the nail, I removed the guides & then placed some white pearls along the negative space to create the tennis ball design. Obviously I didn't topcoat the accent nails, but the others got a good dose of CND Air Dry!

I hope you liked the Wimbledon inspired nails my lovelies! Thanks for reading!

Lotsa love to ya!

NOTD - Psychedelic Florals with Models Own Polish For Tans!

Hello there lovely readers!

I've been absolutely itching to try out Models Own latest release, the eye dazzling Polish Tans Collection. Naturally I succumbed & bought them all on my last trip to Westfields Bottleshop where the highly skilled assistant hypnotized me in to getting them all...o_O I couldn't decide which pretty to try out first so decided to use the whole caboodle in today's mani...
