Disney Nail Art Series - Festive Edition - Frozen Nails!

Hi there lovely readers!

I've been wanting to revisit my Disney Nail Art Series for some time as yet again its been a while! You can see all my Disney recreations on the nails HERE, including classics such Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King & more!

Frozen became a bit of a sensation with Disney for this generation of youngsters & the source of many parents loss of sanity at the thought of hearing Let It Go for the 3496th time....I myself waited a long time before watching as I am a hardcore CLASSIC Disney fan & was somewhat cynical at these newbies. However I confess, whilst I didn't understand the obsession, I STILL enjoyed the film immensely & seeing as its that time of year that ice likes to make its frosty appearance...what better for my next Festive look than some Disney Frozen Nails!

NOTD - Blue Spring Blooms

Hi there lovely readers!

Yes I know...Florals for Spring...groundbreaking ;) But nope not just Spring in my world, why I'm more than happy to rock florals all year round as I just adore them. I have a serious obsession for floral embroidered EVERYTHING at the moment, recently succumbing to the current blogger favourite EGO & picking me up a pair of the super pretty Cheska Floral Nude Mules. I never thought I would fall for this trend but the moment I saw them...I knew I needed such floral goodness in my life. And FYI they not only look fab, but are super comfy too...WIN.

Anyway I digress, but basically yes, florals make me sigh in contentment...especially when they are on my nails. I do dig me a good floral design...err did I mention that? Wanting to venture down a slightly different path of my usual dotticure and dry marbling style that I love because heck its just so darn easy to do yet looks awesome, I wanted to play around with some of my acrylic paints.

NOTD - Pastels & Rainbows!

Hello there my lovely readers!

Today's nail art that I have for you gives me ALL the happy vibes. For me nail art isn't just a passion but also incredibly therapeutic...not only does it make me feel fab when the tips of my fingers are sporting some form of funky coverage, heck who doesn't feel good when rocking pretty nails, but whereas for some it may be a chore of a task, for me the whole process of nail painting is relaxing as well.

I also find it to be the biggest mood lifter, its the little things that help make one feel not so rubbish & for me having a fun manicure is one them. After having a pretty darn down in the dumps week with my wisdom tooth extraction developing into a glorious infection which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy & trying to recall a time when I wasn't on a diet of painkillers and antibiotics, I decided I needed something to lift my spirits & as usual resorted to some nail art therapy...& this is what I came up with...

It may be pouring outside but its all Pastels & Rainbows up in here! Well this definitely succeeded in uplifting my mood greatly & would you believe me if I told you this wasn't actually even done with nail polish but in fact acrylic paints?

NOTD - Expecto Patronum by Dollish Polish!

Hello there my lovely readers!

Gotten back in to the swing of things yet? Find myself currently surrounded by gym obsessed work colleagues filled with the obligatory after holiday over indulging guilt...& here's me just sat here happily munching away on left over Roses...haha! I mean if it wasn't the fact that I was allergic to gym I totally would succumb too...its not pretty...sweats, palpitations, breathlessness, hot flushes...this ALWAYS happens whenever I go...so for my well being I simply cannot so hey ho.

One of my favourite things about the Xmas break, other than all the food & family time of course, is the fab selection of festive films to enjoy during ones hibernation. This year we were treated to the entire Harry Potter saga. I visited the studios last year which was absolutely magical & it brought back so many wonderful memories, these films will always have a special place in my heart just like Disney.

Anyhoo watching the films immediately brought to my mind a particular polish in my stash that I had picked up donkeys ago but had not yet had the opportunity to test out...Expecto Patronum by Dollish Polish...well...you can imagine my eagerness to rectify this situation immediately after watching The Prisoner of Azkaban...so out it came!

The delightfully titled Expecto Patronum is an indie polish by the brand Dollish Polish. I picked up this little beauty in a blog sale but you can find it on their website HERE. This polish is seriously stunning beauts & if you are a Harry Potter fan then you NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE. Heck even if you're not just look at its purdiness!

As expected from a polish named after the well known charm spell, Expecto Patronum is a beautiful milky white crelly shade that gets its special magical element from the presence of beautiful minty green iridescent flakies & teal green holo glitter chunks of different sizes....SWOONS!

The formula is light therefore to get full impact of this polish, 3 coats will be required to achieve opaque coverage but oh boy is it worth it. I can understand why this little gem is a best-seller as it really is something rather special.

Not that it needed it but to add a bit of extra oomph to the mani I added on 3 dots of this gorgeous pink glitter from China Glaze called Mrs Claus just above the cuticle, China Glaze really do glitter polish well & this one is no exception. I love this sort of dotticure nail art as its such an easy way to get a glitter fix & can jazz up any mani effortlessly!

Finish with obligatory topcoat to protect all that sparkly goodness & you have your nails ready to cast your Patronus charm!

You can get your hands on this divine polish via the Dollish Polish website HERE where they offer international shipping & is available in both large & small sizes. Thanks for reading!

Lotsa love to ya!

Halloween NOTD - Holo Cobwebs!

Hello lovely readers!

So the time hath come to start getting spooky on the nails my dears! My goth side is so satisfied this time of year but then with me its all 365 days not just October with its main event of Halloween, I'm dark souled pretty much all year round ;) But tis now especially my oddness can come out in full force haha!

So for my first Halloween mani I've decided to go for some creepy cobwebs which I've glammed up with silver holo because life is always brighter when there's holo dolls. Halloween doesn't always have to be dark & spooky, though I totally dig that too

Please excuse the quality of the pics beauts, I've never been over the moon with my photo skills in the first place but I've recently moved & struggling to find which areas have the best lighting, so far the kitchen is winning... O_O Not to mention that the winter months means early darkness which, as you know my fellow bloggers out there, is our worst nightmare!

Anyhoo I digressed there with that mini rant, apologies. For my base polish I've used the glorious A England shade Encore Margot. I ADORE the lovely Adina's brand of polishes with their beautifully gothic & medieval collections, I URGE you to check them out.

Encore Margot is a dreamy blue toned silver holo which I've applied two coats of on most of the nail, leaving a wee angled part by the cuticle end bare...not sure why, just felt the mood for a bit of random negative spaceage.

Once dry I then grabbed my nail art brushes including my new Nailbees brush which is so fine & perfect for details! The lovely Minnie also sent me a Freddo chocolate with my order along with a cute little note, such a sweetie!

Using some black polish I proceeded to add on my cobwebs. To create the design begin by drawing two diagonal lines to create a cross on to the nail before adding a horizontal line down the middle so that you have the 6 triangle sections of your cobweb

Then using the Nailbees brush & more black polish just add on the final details of two small curved lines in between your triangles & hey presto you have your cobwebs!

I couldn't stop there so for some extra glam factor I applied one clear & two black rhinestones on to the negative space as well as a couple of dots of China Glaze Lorelai's Tiara which is one of my favourite sparkly glitters with its silver & ice blue tones.

I also added on a final dot of glitter on to the centre of my cobwebs before coating it all with obligatory topcoat to seal.

And thats Halloween mani number 1 for this year done! You can have a peek at all of my Halloween mani's HERE. Racking my brains now on what to rustle up next...until then beauts! Thanks for reading!

Lotsa love to ya!

NOTD - Chelsea Frost ft True Brit London

Greetings lovely readers!

Things I've learnt of late? NEVER get smug thinking you've successfully avoided the flu bug that everyone & their dad has had because it is when you're in this clearly vulnerable state that it decides to ensnare you into its clutches. So yah...not feeling so smug now. Thankfully I've got the day off to attempt to defeat the bugger where much chocolate therapy (for medicinal reasons obvs) will be involved to help speed up the recovery process.

Of course another way to brighten up the day is with the help of a pretty polish, so that's precisely what shall be done! Many pair Monday's with the blues, but this doesn't have to be a negative thing at all, so I have a super pretty blue shade to share with you lovelies today in the form of Chelsea* from True Brit London.

I wasn't kidding was I? Mighty puuuurdy this blue most definitely is. Chelsea is a gorgeous jewel cobalt blue with an interesting shimmery edge thanks to the addition of finely milled pearls giving it a lush luxurious finish.

The formula of Chelsea was slightly sheerer than others I've tried from this range so two coats is definitely required with this one, three if you really want a pop of colour!

Not that this beaut of a blue needs jazzing up, but I seem to have rediscovered my love for glitter gradients again so I couldn't resist adding a touch of sparkly goodness in the form of China Glaze's Lorelai's Tiara.

Lorelai's Tiara definitely ranks up there as one of my top glitters, a gorgeous molten silver with pretty ice blue flecks dotted in there, worn alone it is truly an eye catcher! I actually lent this to a work colleague for her wedding day polish as her something borrowed AND something blue! :)

For the gradient simply dab & drag the glitter down from the cuticles till you get the desired finished effect. For a final glam touch I also added a few pretty pale blue rhinestones on top of the glitter.

Finish with your obligatory topcoat to seal the stones & glitter & you’re done! Feeling some seriously frosty vibes with this icy mani!

Thanks as always for reading dolls! Don't forget you can get 10% off True Brit London polishes which are available online using my code TRULY10. Till next time!

Lotsa love to ya!

NOTD - Chocolate & Gold Magnum Inspired Nails!

Hello there my beauts! Happy first of the month to you!

So there appears to be a recurring theme when it comes to finding inspiration for nail art lately....FOOD. Maybe not THAT surprising considering my devotion to sweet foodstuffs;) With those rare glimpses of sunshine that we've been graced with of late, so comes the inevitable temptation of consuming a yummy ice cream treat. Remember the Raspberry Ripple Marble nails from a few posts ago? Well this time it was whilst I was indulging in a decadent Magnum delight, that I thought the combination of rich dark tones & gold in the packaging would look equally pretty on the nails. So this is what I came up with...

For my base colour I used the vampy I Sing In Colour by OPI which was one of the shades from Gwen Stefani's collection. This is an intensely rich, almost black red shade, so hot & vampy, I absolutely love it! And I thought it would be perfect to embody smooth velvety dark chocolate tones. This is two coats applied to a gorgeously glossy finish.

For the gold touch I decided to use China Glaze Cracked Medallion crackle polish. Aaah good old crackle polishes, remember those? China Glaze's offerings were particularly awesome, with the polish formula crackling extremely well, leaving a really pretty effect.

I still wanted plenty of that vampy base on show, far too pretty it is to hide, so I just swiped the gold crackle across the tip in a quarter moon.

For a final bit of golden decadence I simply added a row of gold glitter dots along the curve of the crackle before sealing it all with my trusty CND Air Dry topcoat

Mmmm...Magnum anyone? I can predict the chances of me speedy gonzalez-ing it down to the freezer after this post is up are quite high & I suggest you all do the same so I feel less guilty mwahaha! ;) Maybe I should do a food nail art series? Any requests? ;)

Thanks as always for reading dolls!

Lotsa love to ya

Easter NOTD - Duck Egg Nails!

Hullo there lovely readers! Hope you're all having a tip top week, the weather is slowly but steadily picking up, work is good & the countdown has already begun for the beauty that is a four day Easter weekend, also giving two very delightfully shortened weeks in the process! *happy dance*

A wee bit concerned I haven't consumed me an easter egg yet though, plenty of the mini variety but those little uns hardly factor, this is something I plan to rectify greatly in the upcoming days...

Speaking of Easter naturally brings me on to the subject of today’s post...Easter themed nails! Unfortunately I can't seem to find the time lately to do any nail art but I am definitely going to try at the weekend! However I realised after doing this mani how much it resembled duck eggs, which is kind of an Easter theme right? Hey presto quick & easy Easter nails! All ya need? A base colour & some crackle polish!

NOTD - China Glaze 'I Herd That'...

Hello there lovely readers!

Gosh its been a wee while hasn't it? Life has been a tad on the crazy side lately, I honestly don't know whether I'm coming or going, hence why the blog has taken a back seat, the mojo got lost there for a bit. I'm ashamed to admit that at times I've been so preoccupied that I've even had...*looks over shoulders*...*whispers*...BARE nails. Shhh! O_o But that little blip has been puts to right with immediate effect! Phew!

Today I've a beaut of a polish to share with you, not only is it just so puurdy but its been a perfect polish for me this week on account of it being a beautiful glitter thus super quick in application & drying! This little pretty is a China Glaze & goes by the name of I Herd That from their On Safari fall 2012 collection.

I found this lovely sparkler in the Sally's discount bowl, another fab place to seek out polish bargains! And what a sparkler it is, I Herd That is a beautiful burnt, coppery bronze & golden glitter polish that dries to a matte finish giving the effect of gorgeous sultry sands on your nails.

Here I've applied two coats to get an opaque finish, not bad at all for a glitter! And of course drying time was super quick with the matte glitter finish which I juts love *swoons* I later on applied a coat of topcoat to not only smoothen out the glitter but often a glitter can completely come to life with a simple coating of gloss & I Herd That was no exception!

Come evening I was delighted to discover a few holographic glitters mixed up in there as well with all that bronzey gold goodness! I think its safe to say I definitely have a new fav glitter on the block ;)

Thanks as always for reading lovely ones! Till next time!

Lotsa love to ya!
